Become a Volunteer
Since our beginning, we have depended completely on volunteers. Their dedication has helped rescue and rehome almost 1,500 Shetland Sheepdogs since 1999. Every foster placement, transport run, home visit, adoption event, and educational post happens because someone chose to step in and help.
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to support Shelties in need, we’d love to welcome you. Volunteering with NVSR means making a real, direct difference in a Sheltie’s life. Whether you foster, transport, conduct home visits, help at events, raise awareness, or lend your skills occasionally, your time helps ensure each Sheltie finds a home where they are truly cherished.
You don’t have to do everything. You just have to care—and we’ll help with the rest. NVSR is a proud affiliate of the National Sheltie Rescue Association. The National Sheltie Rescue Association (NSRA) supports Sheltie rescue efforts across the United States and Canada and establishes best practices that all member rescues agree to follow. As an NSRA member, we are a trusted partner with other regional Sheltie rescues and collaborate with them to screen out-of-state applicants, share knowledge, and support large-scale rescue efforts.
Ways to Join Our Work
Provide Financial Support
We depend on the generosity of our donors to cover the costs of our work. No gift is too small, and each one is needed. Without our donors, we could not be here for the Shelties who need us.
